Mark T. Brookshire is the president and founder of Stock-Trak, Inc. Stock-Trak is the leading provider of educational stock, option, and futures trading simulations in the U.S. college and high school market.
Mark received his B.S. from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg and his M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from Georgia Tech. Disappointed that his undergraduate and graduate investment classes had no "hands-on" trading experience, Mark developed a database program to track hypothetical student portfolios.
In 1990 Mark set out to be the "Charles Schwab of play
money" and launched Stock-Trak. Partnering with the best
selling college investment textbooks, Stock-Trak quickly
grew among U.S. colleges. There are currently over 800 professors
in 25 countries and their 45,000 students that use the college
level www.stocktrak.com.
In 1996 he created the SMS, Stock Market Simulation, to
service the high school market by partnering with other
organizations within each state that were interested in
promoting financial literacy. Under this brand name, there
are many SMS sites such as www.nationalsms.com,
www.hawaiisms.com,
www.arizonasms.com,
etc. There are currently over 150,000 students using the
various SMS branded sites across the U.S.
Stock-Trak is based in Duluth, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta and employees finance and computer science majors from the local universities to provide customer and technical support.
