Kristine Castagnaro
Executive Director
Hawai`i Council on Economic Education
Hired in January 2003, Kristine Castagnaro became
the first full-time Executive Director of the Hawai`i
Council on Economic Education, where she is responsible
for fundraising and fiscal duties, bring the mission and
programs to state-wide audience, and developing the programming
by partnering with stakeholders from education, business,
government and nonprofit organizations.
Kristine graduated with a B.A. in Economics from the
University of Rochester. She was an early web innovator,
working at CNN Interactive and taking part in the launch
of AllPolitics.com and CNNfn.com. She proceeded to Harbinger
EDI, where she was a project manager and webmaster. After
moving to Hawaii, Kristine became a consultant for DataHouse,
Inc where she managed software development and deployment
projects for clients such as Kaiser Permanente, KSBE and
Group Health of Puget Sound. In 1997, Kristine went on
to found SyncTank Solutions, Inc, a local software consulting
company.
Shifting her focus from technology to non-profits, she
became the Neighbor Island Event Coordinator for the March
of Dimes Hawaii. Currently, Kristine serves the community
as a youth advocate for Hale Kipa and Volunteer Guardian
Ad Litem for the State of Hawaii. She's serves on the
boards of Junior Achievement and the Hawaii Economic Association.
