Jeanne Unemori Skog
President & CEO
Maui Economic Development Board
JEANNE UNEMORI SKOG serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer for Maui Economic Development Board, Inc. (MEDB). Ms. Skog has the distinction of being the organization's most long-term executive, tracing her affiliation with MEDB back to 1984. When she became the fourth President & CEO of MEDB, she brought considerable experience in fund and partnership development, project development and management, conference planning, and community relations. Attraction and expansion of technology-related business under the High Tech Maui have expanded significantly through the management of Maui R & T Center incubation program, Maui TechOhana outreach and proactive relationships with entities engaged in Department of Defense work. Ms. Skog’s recognition of the underrepresentation of women in Maui County’s emerging high technology industry led to a U.S. Department of Labor workforce development grant to address the special challenges of women and girls in pursuing careers in science and technology. MEDB’s history of convening community around economic issues took on a added dimension when Ms. Skog initiated the Economic Literacy program. The initiative which supports one of MEDB’s program priorities nurtures a broader understanding of economics and Maui’s economy in youth and adults.
Ms. Skog has been a twenty-year advocate for education. Her participation includes 13 years on public school PTA boards, with two terms as president. She currently serves on the board of the Hawaii Council on Economic Education, on the planning team for Tech Ready (a campaign to raise funds for enhancing education through technology), and on the newly formed Project EAST (Environmental and Spatial Technology) Advocacy Council. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for Seabury Hall.
A graduate of St. Anthony High School in Wailuku, Maui, she received a B.A. in English Literature with a teaching certificate from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. Prior professional endeavors include a decade of experience in sales and interior design. She is married and has two children.
