Economics Teacher & School of the Year Award For Excellence in Economic Education
The Economics Teacher & School of the Year Award is a $1,000 award presented to an outstanding elementary or secondary economic education teacher and school who have conducted an exemplary economics program and have encouraged the growth and development of an effective economic education program. The Economics Teacher of the Year Award is sponsored by Hawaii Pacific University. The Economics School of the Year is sponsored by HCEE.
K-12 public or private school teacher and school in the State of Hawaii
Economics instruction conducted during the 2016-2017 school year
Has developed an innovative and effective classroom program, unit, or project within their existing curriculum or in a stand alone economic course
Has increased student economic literacy (applicants who include student assessment results or analysis of the student understanding and improvement will be looked upon favorably).
Has demonstrated the use of a variety of developmentally appropriate methods and resources in teaching economics
Has participated in HCEE professional development activities to increase his/her knowledge of economics
Application Procedure: Teachers and schools may self-nominate, be nominated by a principal, or be nominated by another teacher or school. Each entry must be accompanied by an application form and must follow the Portfolio Requirements format.
Deadline: Application deadline is Friday August 25, 2017.
